Vinitaly Verona 2009
Posted on Apr 28, 2009
Nathan and I attended Vinitaly in Verona April 2-7. It was a very busy week, but we came home with several new gems to add to the portfolio. These additions will include a handful of value priced wines, outstanding Amarone and Valpolicella, and added selections from a few of our current producers. I think our customers will be particularly excited about a white wine from Seiterre’s Le Capannelle farm. Seiterre’s 100% Vermentino is labeled as the white counterpart to one of our most popular wines, Le Capannelle Rosso Maremma Toscana..jpg)
We would like to thank all of our producers and potential producers for welcoming us in Verona. It was great to see everyone again, and we send our apologies to those we could not meet. Unfortunately the nature of Vinitaly makes it difficult to see many people, even over five days. We give a special thank you to Leopardo Felici of Andrea Felici Verdicchio, Marco Schiavo of Schiavo Grappa, and everyone at Enoteca Nederland and Vinchio Vaglio Serra.
Verona is a beautiful city and we hope to visit again soon, though perhaps not during Vinitaly. The city is overcome with visitors for the show and it can be difficult to get around. Our recommendation for anyone planning to attend Vinitaly in the future: get accommodations within walking distance of the show. The traffic leaving Vinitaly each night takes 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot. You’ll want to spend your evenings in the old city, so it’s best to sleep there as well.
