Vignemastre is the creation of winemakers Filippo Artini and Dario Parenti in attempt to make a clean wine; clean in palate, clean in the environment, clean in bouquet and clean in health. They approach the wine with the idea that precautions and techniques will be used to create a great wine that meets all of their pristine criteria. Their desire to express the varietal and terroir led the pair to ferment and age without the use of oak barrels. They chose Stelvin (screwcap) closures to avoid the risk of TCA or cork taint, and chose to limit the use of sulphur. Additionally, Filippo and Dario put their oenology and viticulture degrees to good use by utilizing micro-oxygenation; a very deliberate and slow method of introducing oxygen into the wine, simulating the natural process of a wood barrel without the need for cutting down trees. The micro-oxygenation process is also believed to result in a wine with a very clean bouquet. Much thought, research and care is put into these value oriented wines.
